When I have a compilation album, for example Best Of whoever, each song had a different release date and that data is contained within the particular song’s metadata - NOT the album release date.

However, each separate song (or at least each song with the same release year) now shows up as a separate album, which is ridiculous. This did not use to be the case, but the implementation of being able to sort by release date means that you must! I do not want to, having spent so much time accurately updating metadata with actual song release date for information purpose, but not sorting purpose.
